Rider Information · The Gate System
Four strategic stops that give rhythm to the journey north. A control point, a garage, a party and a bed: all in one place.
All categories leave Paris and reach Gate 1 in Oslo on different routes. From there the two routes separate for good and meet again in Honningsvåg for the final parade. Gate locations and maximum arrival times are given in the Participant’s Guide and at the briefings.
| Leg Paris to Gate 1 (Oslo) | Days 4 | Rally categories about 1,730 km | Explorer GPX about 1,730 km |
| Leg Gate 1 to Gate 2 | Days 3 | Rally categories about 1,500 km | Explorer GPX about 1,540 km |
| Leg Gate 2 to Gate 3 | Days 3 | Rally categories about 1,500 km | Explorer GPX about 1,250 km |
| Leg Gate 3 to Gate 4 (Honningsvåg) | Days 2 | Rally categories about 1,000 km | Explorer GPX about 860 km |

The only non-negotiable rule: reach and validate every Gate within its maximum arrival time.
Paris-Nordkapp Regulations, art. 3
Each Gate opens and closes at set times, and the maximum arrival time gets shorter as you go north. Inside the window you get the stamp on your PNK Passport: that is the validation.
If you miss the maximum arrival time you are Out of Time: you can still continue to the next Gate choosing your own route, but you no longer receive the official route.
There is no point in rushing: nobody leaves before the departure window of the following morning. The starting order from each Gate is the arrival order. In 2026 departures opened at 06:00, no more than three riders per minute, and you could also leave directly from your own accommodation.
No external assistance is allowed inside or close to the Gates. Everything else is there.
Your open-air garage: tools, stands, tyre changers, free lubricants from our partners and everything you need for maintenance and minor repairs. Spare parts are not provided.
A tyre-changing service run by our partner, by reservation and for a fee. In 2026 you could choose between Hero (you do it all), Premium (you remove the wheels) and VIP (you leave the bike).
Games and skill challenges, optional and often unexpected: bring a costume. Taking part earns bonuses: a hotel night, a dinner along the route, or a Joker Card.
Each Joker Card lets you skip the number of kilometres written on it. Those kilometres count as completed and do not lower your route percentage. Joker Cards are cumulative.
Mandatory, in Italian, English and French. The key information for the next leg; the RoadBook or GPX track to the next Gate is sent by email. Slides are also published on Sportity.
Five dinners at the Gates are included. Around a long table or a barbecue you find again the faces you crossed on the road: the solitude of the trail gives way to the stories of the day.
The 2027 timetable will be in the Participant’s Guide. This is how a typical Gate day unfolded in the first edition.
Check-in and stamp on the PNK Passport. Malle Motorex Area and tyre service available.
The challenge of the day. Winners earn unique bonuses, everyone who takes part earns kilometre reductions.
Italian, English and French. Mandatory. Slides on Sportity for those who arrive later.
Buffet or barbecue, all together.
The next morning, from the Gate or from your accommodation, in arrival order.
The last Gate is in Honningsvåg, the northernmost town in Europe reachable by road. The maximum arrival time there is the deadline to be a Finisher: stamp your Passport, return the tracker and collect your deposit, receive your entry ticket for the evening.
Then everyone rides together, in parade, for the last kilometres to Nordkapp under the midnight sun: the final ceremony, the medals and the group photo under the Globe. There is no fuel at Nordkapp: keep enough for the way back to Honningsvåg.
Administrative checks, shakedown route, navigation course, briefing and the midnight start.
